Use shortcuts to folders in the backward-compatible document library

If you want to create a desktop shortcut to a folder in a backward-compatible document library, you can use the Create Shortcut command in the document library on the portal site.

Create a folder shortcut

  1. Open the network place for the document library, right-click the folder for which you want to create a shortcut, and then click Create Shortcut.
  2. Click Yes.

A shortcut to the folder appears on your desktop. You can work in this folder as you would any other folder.

Delete a folder shortcut

  1. Right-click the shortcut you want to delete, and then click Delete.
  2. Click Yes.

Deleting a folder shortcut deletes the link to the folder but does not delete the folder in the document library.
