You can check a document back into the backward-compatible document library, without saving any changes, directly from the portal site or by using the network place for the document library. If you undo a check-out, you lose all changes that you made while you had the document checked out. The document reverts to the version that was most recently checked in, and Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 does not keep a version history record for the unsaved changes.
Coordinators on a folder can also undo a check-out on a document that another user has checked out. When you add a document to the document library but have not yet checked it in for the first time, the Undo Check Out command is not available. This command becomes available only after you have checked in and checked out a document for the first time.
Undo check-out from the portal site
Under the Document Library heading, SharePoint Portal Server displays a list of folders and documents available from this site. The items displayed depend on your permissions.
The Document Inspection page appears.
SharePoint Portal Server returns the document to a checked-in state. The version that appears as the current version in the workspace is the version that was most recently checked in. If you want to make changes to that document, you must check it out again.
