Select a document profile in the backward-compatible document library

To use document profiles to restrict the types of documents that users can include in folders, you must select at least one document profile to associate with a folder. You can assign more than one document profile to a folder. When you assign document profiles to a folder, only documents matching those document profiles can be stored in that folder.

Select a document profile

  1. Right-click the folder to which you want to apply profiles, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Profiles tab.
  3. In the Available document profiles list, select one or more document profiles.
  4. In the Use the following profile by default for documents in this folder list, select a default document profile. Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 automatically applies this document profile to all documents in the folder unless the user selects a different, valid document profile.
  5. Click OK.
