Rename documents in the backward-compatible document library
You can rename documents in the backward-compatible document library directly from the portal site or by using the network place to access the backward-compatible document library.
Note You cannot rename a document from the portal site if it is submitted for publishing and has a status of Pending Approval.
Rename documents from the portal site
- On the navigation bar for the portal site, click Document Library.
Note If the document is already published, you can also find the document by using search. In this case, click the link to the folder that contains the document to locate the document.
- On the Document Library page, locate the document you want to rename.
Note The document may be available from a list on the Document Library page, or it may be located in a subfolder. If the document is located in a subfolder, open that folder to display its contents.
- Click Show Actions for the document.
- Verify that the correct document is selected, and then click Rename.
- Type a unique name for the document and click Save.
Rename documents from a network place
- From the network place for the backward-compatible document library, locate the document you want to rename.
- Right-click the document you want to rename, and then click Rename.
- Type a unique name for the document, and then press ENTER.
