Check a document into the backward-compatible document library
Check a document into the backward-compatible document libraryWhen you add a document to the backward-compatible document library, or when you finish making changes to a document that you have checked out, you must check it in to enable other folder users to view the latest version of the document.
Check in a document by using the portal site
- On the primary navigation bar of the portal site, click the link to your document library.
- On the Document Library page, locate the document that you want to check in. It may be located in a subfolder. If the document is located in a subfolder, open that folder to display its contents.
- Click the Show Actions link for the document. The Document Inspection page opens.
- Verify that the correct document is selected, and then click Check-In.
- Specify how to locate the document:
- If you did not save a working copy of the document to your computer, clear the Copy the document from my computer to the workspace check box.
- If you saved a working copy of the document to your computer, make sure that that the Copy the document from my computer to the workspace check box is selected. Under the Document File Name heading, click Browse to locate the document on your computer, and then click Open.
- Click Continue.
- Make any necessary changes to the document profile and fill in version comments briefly describing how you changed the document while you had it checked out.
- Click OK.
Check in a document by using a Microsoft Office application
- On the File menu, click Check in.
- A check-in form appears. Complete the Version Comments and make any necessary changes to the profile form.
- Click OK.
Check in a document by using Web folders
- Locate the document in the document library.
- Right-click the document, and then click Check in.
- A check-in form appears. Complete the Version Comments and make any necessary changes to the profile form.
- Click OK.
Notes
- After you check in a document, authors in the folder can see and edit the document. Changes to the document are not visible to users who search for the document on the portal site until you publish the document.
- To publish a document, select the Publish this document after check in check box on the check-in form. If the folder has not been configured with an approval process, the document will be published automatically.
