About editing areas

You can customize the features, layout, and other aspects of the areas in a portal. You can make some of the changes by using the links in Actions, such as the Change Settings link. Other changes, such as modifying the Web Parts on the page, require that you switch to edit mode. In edit mode, the page displays a Modify Shared Page drop-down menu in the upper-right corner. From this menu, you can add Web Parts, modify their properties, and rearrange the parts on the page. By default, the changes you make occur in shared view. You can also choose to customize a personal view of a page that only you can see and customize. After you're finished using the Modify Shared Page menu, you can switch back to regular view by clicking View Page in Actions.

You must be a member of the Administrator, Web Designer, or Content Manager site group to edit an area.
